Task description: single view editor (MVC 2)
Problem to solve
As someone used to using modern text editors, I need to see instant updates to the markdown I write when updating the description of a task.
As someone else that does not like seeing these updates, I want to still be able to use plain text (that is later processed into markdown).
Proposal
Use tiptap editer to provide a richer editing experience.
UX Screens
Acceptance Criteria
-
Add support for inline editing -
Formatting options work as expected -
Properly renders all GFM and attachments like the existing description rendering -
Changes are saved automatically. -
Many changes that happen within a small time span are batched together in the description diff system notes -
Mobile and Desktop implemented
Permissions and Security
- Same permissions as existing issue permissions.
Documentation
- Documentation around editing of tasks, particularly screenshots, will need to be updated.
Testing
- Write tests, but this will be iteratively developed behind a FF and not generally available.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
- May possibly see a decrease in the average time it takes to update a description.
