Using the checkout branch from the code button on MR needs duplicate dismissal

Problem

When I go to a merge request(example !85980 (comment 928887967)) and I take these steps(being specific since that may factor into it):

1. Click on code button.
2. Click on checkout branch.
3. Click on copy commands for step 1
4. Click the x on the modal

It doesn't disappear, merely drops the backdrop and gives me less of an opacity on the background and I have to dismiss it again.

I would expect it to only require one dismissal.

This doesn't happen all the time...
