CMD+K link pasting doesn't work as intended

Problem to solve

Whenever I highlight the text in an issue that I want to add a link to and click CMD+K, it adds the link text to the wrong place. Link text should be in the square brackets, and the cursor should be in the parenthesis so I can paste the link URL there. I'm forced to redo the whole syntax. Using Firefox. Same problem happens when I edit MD files in a single file editor.
