UX Spike: Investigate SSO signup flow for GitHub and Twitter
Summary
There's a few specific SSO providers that have unique behavior in the SSO registration flow that we need to better understand to 1) determine if there are UX/Dev improvements required and 2) to define and go complete that work.
More specifically, we believe when signing up with GitHub or Twitter, these providers don't pass email (when email isn't present) and upon account creation, land the user on the Settings
page, bypassing the registration flow and creating an odd first product experience for the user.
Investigation Goals
- Confirm GitHub and Twitter are the only SSO providers with unique behavior
- Confirm the sporadic email passing behavior we believe to exist
- Propose an updated flow that guides the user through the registration flow and lands them in a suitable first location to start their product experience
