Agent status error communication

Proposal

Background

After an agent is installed a user can only view the agent status on the agent status page. If a particular agent is not connected, the only way to know is by navigating to this page, which happens on an Adhoc basis.

Problem to solve

We need a way to communicate the agent status without the user navigating the agent status page.

Intended Users

User experience goal

Success for the user is letting them know in a timeous manner when the agent is not connected; we should also not spam the user.

Proposal

  • Add an option to Notification Events that allows users to opt-in to emails around agent status errors.
    • Content: Agent Status Error
  • When an agent is disconnected or otherwise encounters an error, we send the user an email.
