Lot of errors in sidekick jobs since upgrade from 11.10.4 to 12.4.1

Summary

We get a lot of errors in background jobs since we upgraded Gitlab CE from 11.10.4 to 12.4.1, such as :

  • Queue pipeline_processing:build_finished, error ActiveModel::MissingAttributeError: missing attribute: ci_id
  • Queue pipeline_processing:pipeline_process, error ArgumentError: wrong number of arguments (given 2, expected 1)
  • Queue pipeline_background:archive_trace, error ActiveModel::MissingAttributeError: missing attribute: sentry_enabled

Steps to reproduce

Honestly I don't know how to reproduce the bugs. The instance was running under Gitlab CE 11.10.4 and we upgraded like this:

  1. Upgraded to Gitlab CE 11.11.8 to get to latest minor upgrade
  2. Upgraded to Gitlab-CE 12.4.1
    • It failed during db migration process,
    • Log reported that this instance was originally installed as EE, and we had to install latest 11.x EE release to handle Geo columns then upgrade to Gitlab 12 CE.
  3. Removed Gitlab CE 12.4.1
  4. Installed Gitlab EE 11.11.3
  5. Installed Gitlab CE 12.4.1 => got a lot of errors in sidekick jobs
  6. Installed Gitlab CE 12.4.2 => No improvement

Can't reproduce these problems since it seems related to our (messy) Gitlab instance.

What is the current bug behavior?

A lot of background jobs fail. Consequence is that several actions can't success, such as pipelines which stay stucked between two steps, rebases that fail, etc.

  • Queue pipeline_processing:build_finished, error ActiveModel::MissingAttributeError: missing attribute: ci_id

What is the expected correct behavior?

I'd like my instance to work without having to re-installing it from scratch.
