Settings for default merge messages are not transferred to forks
Summary
The default messages for merge suggestions, merge commits, and squash commits are not transferred to forks of a project.
This does not make sense as a typical use case for forks is the merge requests workflow, i.e., creating merge requests against the original repository. Thus, this interferes with conventions such as "conventional commit messages".
Steps to reproduce
- Change the default messages for merge suggestions, merge commits, or squash commits at
Settings -> General -> Merge requests
- Fork the project
- Check these settings on the fork
Example Project
- Original repository: https://gitlab.com/mlegner-test-group/test
- Fork: https://gitlab.com/mlegner/test
What is the current bug behavior?
The default messages for merge suggestions, merge commits, and squash commits are not transferred to forks of a project.
What is the expected correct behavior?
When creating a fork, the settings for these default messages should equal those of the original repository.
