Upgrade path in the documentation is confusing

The upgrade path table and steps in https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/update/#upgrade-paths is long and can get confusing with many different steps. It needs thorough analysis and is not straightforward.

Proposal

Shorten the upgrade path examples to the current major version, e.g. 14.x and focus on the steps.

Create a section which describes only the major version jump, and required updates until then.

Create an archive section for 12.x and older.

Add shell examples with apt install to make copy paste more convenient.
