Optional create fork with only default branch

Problem to solve

If I fork https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab, I get a few hundred tags and branches with it. Most of those additional branches are not useful for the random developer. I would like to be able to optionally only get the bare minimum of branches, the default branch.
