Problem to solve
During a recent UX scorecard evaluation, the reviewer rated 2/3 of the "onboarding" heuristics as a D
, and the other as a C
. They also rated "Minimal setup required" as a D
.
The below-average ratings for these heuristics likely have a negative impact on the UI's learnability and usability; especially for users who are new to security.
Proposal
Perform supplemental research to pinpoint and validate specific problem areas and opportunities with security configuration. This research should be focused on the following heuristics:
- Features communicate the problem being solved and value to a new user
- Tasks are easy to learn, or if highly complex, have setup support in the form of in-app guidance, defaults, templates or wizards
- Features/workflows have clear calls to action
- Minimal setup required
