Files list is not loading

Summary

On a self-hosted instance, for one single project, the list of files on the main project page is not loading. The same happens on https://gitlab.[domain]/[group]/[project]/-/tree/master. Other views (commits, branches, tags, graph, ...) and the web IDE work fine. Other projects on this instance are unaffected.

It seems that request to logs_tree/?format=json&offset=0 does not complete when executed from the page.

Steps to reproduce

We don't know how to cause this issue. It is persistent for the single affected project.

What is the current bug behavior?

On the main project page, the Name/Last commit/Last update table only displays 5 lines with the loading animation. The commit information contains only a placeholder "authored just now" string (see below).

What is the expected correct behavior?

The file listing show the state of the current master branch and the commit information is visible.

Relevant logs and/or screenshots

The javascript console shows no messages. The network debug tab shows that the request to …/-/refs/master/logs_tree/?format=json&offset=0 did not complete.

When accessing this URL directly, it loads and contains a complete JSON document.

I've tried with disabled HTTP2 or disabled gzip in nginx, but that didn't affect the bug.
