Investigate personalization in package stage
Problem Statement (low confidence)
Package users currently need to navigate inefficiently find what they're looking for.
Hypothesis
Package users want to customize how they see their data. We could make using package features more convenient by allowing personalisation in the navigation or on the package screens. Example of personalizing navigation from Jet Brains
Example solutions for personalisation
- Ability to favorite or star packages/images/etc
- System associates frequently viewed packages/containers with user and presents these items as quick links, such as bringing frequently accessed items to the top of the table list
- Hovering over a package navigation item (e.g. container) would show a quick links to a frequently accessed or starred containers
Questions
- How would preferences for this feature vary by personas?
- How would preferences for this feature vary by size of the organization?
- How much control would users want to manage this feature?
- Are there examples of this kind of personalization elsewhere in GitLab?
Assumptions
- Any changes to navigation would require collaboration with Editor team
