Can't run a pipeline for a given tag - let me type the tag name manually?

Summary

As seen on https://gitlab.com/tenfold/mirror-v4-plus/pipelines/new, "Existing branch name, tag" can be built.

However, it's not possible to select the tag I'm interested to build. Only branches are displayed, not tags:

Possible fixes

  1. If tags can't be built through the UI ("Run Pipeline"):
  • Tune the wording to indicate the reality.
  • Consider a feature request that allows us to run builds for tags.
  1. If tags should be built through the UI, investigate why I can't select a tag.
  • Additionally, consider letting me type in tag name, rather than be limited to selection only.
