Spring template fails to deploy with auto devops

A new project created out of the Spring template fails on the deploy phase when Auto Devops is enables on a Kubernetes environment (GKE).

The build and test phases are passed without issue, but deploy fails with the following error: NOTES: Application should be accessible at: http://xxxxxxxxxx-staging.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.nip.io Waiting for deployment "staging" rollout to finish: 0 of 1 updated replicas are available... Waiting for deployment "staging" rollout to finish: 0 of 1 updated replicas are available... Waiting for deployment "staging" rollout to finish: 0 of 1 updated replicas are available... error: watch closed before Until timeout ERROR: Job failed: exit code 1

GKE reports that the pod is in the CrashLoopBackOff status. i'm guessing that the default cpu/memory resources that are allocated to the container might not be sufficient for Spring/Java applications to start.
