Send a welcome email to OSS and EDU members upon successful web direct checkout

As part of the Community Efficiency Project, we need to make sure that we're able to send a welcome email to users after they have successfully completed the new web direct provisioning process and have become a program member, or renewed their existing license.

Current Process

  1. Customer applies for EDU or OSS program via SheerID. If verified, gets a coupon code.
  2. Coupon code is added to a Marketo form as step 2 of the interim process. This triggers a notification in Zendesk and we use Zendesk to communicate with the applicant as we manually review the request and process accordingly via SFDC.
  3. Once we finish processing the application through SFDC, we manually send an email via Zendesk (we have a template -- we modify it and send it).

Questions

  • Are we able to automatically send the welcome message at the end of the checkout process
  • How do we distinguish renewal welcome emails from new business welcome emails?
