Problem to solve

The GitLab Container Registry allows teams to build, publish and share Docker images right alongside their source code and pipelines. The user interface provides a list of images/tags and some basic meta data at the project and group level.

However, we don't provide a high level view of all images across all groups. This can make it difficult for organizations that want to share common images throughout the entire instance.

Proposal

Create an instance level Container Registry UI. The goal of this page will be to create visibility and help our customers drive innersourcing and best practices with regards to how images are built and used.

Permissions and Security

• All users with reporter access and above will have the ability to view images/tags
• Admin will have the ability to purge all images
