Docs - product feedback: Notification options

I would like to be notified of releases for a project as well as any updates on threads I have participated in. However, the UI and the documentation at https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/profile/notifications.html make it appear that my choices are either "Participate" (to be notified of updates to my threads) or "Custom" (to be notified of releases). There is no option in the Custom menu to be notified of updates just to my threads, nor is there a way to specify whether I want "Participate" or "On Mention" for any of the other events.

For comparison, the GitHub UI has similar functionality, but it explicitly says "Select events you want to be notified of in addition to participating and @mentions." when selecting a custom event (emphasis mine).
