Track total number of suggestions and applied suggestions
Problem to Solve
There is a significant user discrepancy between the number of people who create a suggestion and the number of people who apply a suggestion. Further data is needed to identify why this gap may exist.
Additional Details
Some quotes about why suggestions might not be applied:
- I often write suggestions I know are not going to be applied, because they need more changes related to them. But they are a good way of communicating what I want the code to look like afterwards.
- I only accept suggestions if there are no other changes.
These seem like reasonable considerations for why applying a suggestion might not make sense.
Proposal
In order to further understand this gap, it would be helpful to have two additional metrics available:
- Total number of Suggestions
- Number of APPLIED Suggestions
With this we'd be able to further understand if this user gap is expected (i.e. most suggestions are actually applied) or if there are additional items we need to understand why suggestions aren't applied.
