Tooltips on ahead/behind status on branch list always specify "master" branch even if no such branch exists
Summary
Branch status tooltips always say something like 2 commits behind master, 0 commits ahead
, even though my repos have no master
branch.
Steps to reproduce
- open the branches list of a repo (that has no "master" branch, mine all use
main
anddevelop
wheredevelop
is the default branch) - hover over the ahead/behind status
- tooltip will show something like this:
What is the current bug behavior?
Gitlab assumes I have a master
branch (I don't) and seems to ignore the default branch setting, so I am unsure of what branch the ahead/behind status is looking at.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Status should say x commits behind <default branch>, y commits head
.
