Grand parent group milestones are not displayed when creating new release in sub group

I have 3 projects with this path:

  • group 1 -> group 2 -> group 3 -> project 1
  • group 1 -> group 2 -> project 2
  • group 1 -> project 3

I have few milestones in group 1 group.

What is the current bug behavior?

When I create a release with the UI in project 1 or project 2, no milestone appear. If I do same in project 3, group 1 milestones appear.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Group 1 milestones should be proposed in project 1 and project 2.

Proposal

A fix for this bug here would be to pass include_parent_milestones=true in the request to /projects/:id/milestones to ensure the group milestones from parent group and its ancestors are showing up. Please check documentation for further information.

Note: this is blocked by Allow parent group milestones to be used on rel... (#378442 - closed) since it's these supergroup milestones won't work if you pass them to the API.
