Consolidate Geo update instructions and GitLab update instructions
Problem to solve
Currently, the documentation for Geo updates is spread between these pages:
- https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/geo/replication/updating_the_geo_nodes.html
- https://docs.gitlab.com/omnibus/update/README.html
- https://docs.gitlab.com/omnibus/settings/database.html#upgrading-a-geo-instance
It is not clear why this separation exists and makes it difficult for users to understand where to look for what information. During upgrade demoes (internal to GitLab) we frequently witnessed people getting confused. This can lead to incorrect execution of instructions.
Proposal
- Integrate Geo update instructions with Omnibus instructions
- Avoid too many interlinking dependencies (To update X, go to page Y but then check out special instructions on page Z)
