Experiment Idea: Add LinkedIn as a social signup option
Experiment Summary
Hypthosis
We can improve the trial signup rate by adding the option for users to signup utilizing Linkedin
Supporting data
The marketing team was able to show from GA that Linkedin represents 0.38% of our sessions but represents 1% of our goal completions indicating these leads are of a high value to our business https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/322879.
Design
In the experiment cohort users would have the option to signup for GitLab using Linkedin, in the control experience users would not have this option. We'd monitor the successful signup rate between the two groups.
Rollout strategy
We'd run this as an A/B test scaling from 20% on production to 50%.
Inclusions and exclusions
This experiment would specifically run on free SaaS trials signups.
Segmentation
No segmentations required.
