Users expect a way to be more precise (exact) with the results that are returned from their search
Insight
Users want to be able to specify that the results of their search should match exactly to their search query.
Supporting evidence
While some users expected this to be the default behavior with search, most users at least expected a way to specify that they wanted their search to be more exact. This includes things such as case sensitivity (as development often utilizes various cases, such as camelCase) as well as verbatim queries.
Along with this, users also mentioned the benefit of having a filter option specifically for class
names.
Action
- Identify how important this is for the customer to have certain and confident that the Code search is returning all the results? We think this is extremely important to customers but need to understand more.
- When customers don't have this confidence what do they do next?
- We should understand what are the obstacles to giving an exact match.
- Are there proposed solutions for solving this problem in a completely different way. An Example: Would we use a different core technology for code search than Elasticsearch.
