Automatically test lambda functions

Problem to solve

In order to test my lambda functions, I have to deploy them to a production-like environment on AWS in order to test. I would like to run tests before deployment in order to ensure no issues exists.

Proposal

GitLab could provide a container image that mimics the production environment and run tests via GitLab CI, all before deploying to lambda. This would ensure maximum chance of success.
