Hosted runners on Windows for GitLab.com - GA
Runner SaaS for Windows - current state (revised 2023-04-01)
- The offer is in beta. However, the service is monitored and supported by the Runner SaaS team.
- The builds are not containerized.
- The build VM's are not pre-provisioned, so there is a delay in job start times.
- The target quarter for transitioning to GA is now at FY24 Q4. The rationale here is that we only have enough developer capacity to focus on macOS GA and implementing a new autoscaling solution for Runner SaaS - Linux +Docker executor
Overview
Windows Shared Runners on GitLab.com will be available as a GA offer. GA capabilities include faster provisioning times for build VM's and service level objectives for Windows Runners availability. At GA, usage of Windows Shared Runners will count towards CI minutes used on GitLab.com.
