Dealing with SPAM on gitlab community

Is there anything that can be done about all the spam on gitlab?

I see gitlab.com has the same/similar problem as we have on git.empiresmod.com

This is really getting out of hand.

Akismet is doing absolutely nothing even after doing a lot of reporting. Same goes for reCaptcha
