Pipeline status badge stuck in unknown if last commit was a tag

Pipeline status badge displays unknown if the last commit has a tag even when pipeline succeeds.

Steps to reproduce

Run a pipeline and add a tag to the last commit.

What is the current bug behavior?

Pipeline status badge displays "unknown"

What is the expected correct behavior?

Pipeline status badge should display "passed"

Relevant logs and/or screenshots

Pipeline with tagged commit Shows unknown badge

Pipeline with no tag

No issues, shows passed

@katrinleinweber @s_shaik I'm in agreement this is a duplicate of #215530 which looks to expand the trigger types for badges. I'm closing this as a duplicate of Pipeline badges only reflect "commit" pipelines... (#215530) which is a feature request.

Looks like it, but no fixes.

Another premium customer is affected by this issue: ZD(internal)

• The customer is heavily relying on this feature as part of their release management. As the pipeline status is incorrect, it's affecting their workflows and they would like to get this fixed soon.

Customer's response:

Having visibility of pipeline status is a key feature in GitLab not only from the project page but also from the Operations Dashboard. Auto-tagging during a pipeline we feel is an efficient and reliable means of tagging releases as part of our gitops flow.
