Hashing User passwords with SHA512

This is not so much of an issue, but a question. I didn't find a way to ask questions to the development team, maybe I didn't look properly.

Nonetheless, I want to run gitlab-ce on a self hosted machine, but I need the user's passwords to be hashed with SHA512. Even if it requires making some changes to the code, I'm interested in a solution for this matter. Is there anyway that I can alter the hashing algorithm for user passwords?
