Design: Introduce visual indicator of issue type
Release notes
Problem to solve
While issue type "detail pages" are subtly different, the headers are essentially the same. We also don't differentiate between issue types on the issue list, or on boards. So, in those contexts, there's currently no visual indication that someone is looking at different issue types. How can we help people more quickly understand which issue type they are looking at?
Intended users
- Parker (Product Manager)
- Delaney (Development Team Lead)
- Sasha (Software Developer)
- Devon (DevOps Engineer)
User experience goal
Allow people to quickly distinguish different issue types, visually. Especially in those contexts where multiple issue types will appear simultaneously, for example, on issue lists and boards.
Proposal
Begin associating icons with particular issue types:
These icons would start showing up in the issue type headers, on issue lists, and on boards:
| Issue type headers | Issue types on the issue lists | Issue types on boards |
|---|---|---|
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
