Commit revert issue

Sorry, we cannot revert this commit automatically. This commit may already have been reverted, or a more recent commit may have updated some of its content.

I am facing the above issue when reverting the commit to some older version and selecting the same branch or different branch. "Start a new merge request with these changes" as well giving the same error message and no new branch is created which I don't want actually. How we can revert the commits to some older revision? :-(
