High load average after updating Gitlab EE

We recently updated to Gitlab Enterprise Edition 9.3.2 and on one of our servers (main purpose is to mirror repositories) we noticed a higher than normal load average. Prior to the update we were around 1.15 average, and today we are seeing spikes up to 14-15. I did try restarting the application but still see the same error, and I was wondering if this would have anything to do with the mirrors and how often they run? Also with this update I am unable to find how frequently the mirrors run.
