Some usernames are not be reachable via the auto-complete drop down

Summary

Some usernames cannot be selected (or auto suggested) in the assignee (or other dropdowns).

Steps to reproduce

Try assign this issue to @Alexand . It seems there is basically no way to do it via the drop down. The drop down has too many other suggestions that appear and there is no way to select the actual @Alexand .

Workaround

Using slash command or using the full email address of the GitLab account are my only options for assigning anything to @Alexand
