Cannot run merged results pipeline from Run Pipeline page

I tried to run a new pipeline on a branch, but I needed to run with a variable.

Unfortunately, I get this:

If I run the pipeline from the MR, there is no way to set a variable:

Is this a bug or an featureenhancement ?
