Display to a user that their issue is past due in a way that doesn't rely solely on color

Problem to solve

WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color requirements state:

1.4.1 Use of Color: Color is not used as the only visual means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element. (Level A)

Due dates that are past due are indicated only with a text color change. A user could hover to view the due data, but if they are visually impaired they may not notice the prompt to do so. How might we indicate this information to users quickly in a way that doesn't rely solely on color?

Proposal

Not 💯 sure yet. Perhaps a change to the calendar icon to depict "past due" or some sort of alert.
