19.3 - Can't connect to CI (Jenkins) on merge requests
Summary
I am getting a "can not connect to CI" error on Merge requests. However, the pipeline tab tells a different story
Steps to reproduce
- Set up GitLab webhook to Jenkins on merge
- Set up Jenkins pipeline project to receive webhook documentation (uses jenkins-gitlab plugin).
- Have Jenkins pipeline report build steps to Gitlab using the
gitlabCommitStatus() { ... }pipeline step. - Create merge request
- Notice Jenkins job runs as expected
- Notice status reports to pipeline tab as expected
- Notice Gitlab says it can not connect to the CI
Gitlab version 19.3.0 Jenkins version 2.66 jenkins-gitlab plugin version 1.45
Note, my jenkins-gitlab version did not change. However I did recently upgrade 'GitLab-ee' from 9.1 to 9.3.0.
Example Project
Not possible -- using on-premise EE and Jenkins with no public access.
What is the current bug behavior?
Gitlab reports that it can not connect to the CI, thus merges can not be accepted.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Gitlab should report the status of the latest external build and, if successful, allow the MR to be merged.

Please let me know what to look for in the logs, and I will provide as needed.
