We have a paid-for account on gitlab.com with private projects.

When visiting the milestones page at https://gitlab.com/dashboard/milestones?nav_source=navbar it's possible to click on the issues link (located to the right of the milestone title), and see issues from milestones not associated with our organisation.

I suspect this happens when we use fairly generic milestone names, like v1.1 - which no doubt other organizations (or users) will also use.

Note, this only happens when clicking the associated 'X issues' link.

If you click on the actual milestone link (taking you to the burndown chart page), then click "View Issues or Merge Requests in this milestone", the filter works correctly.

The 2 links generated appear to be different. The working one has the group information, which generates the correct filter, and the other misses it out.

  • Working: https://gitlab.com/groups/<MY_GROUP>/<MY_SUBGROUP>/-/issues?milestone_title=V1.1
  • Broken: https://gitlab.com/dashboard/issues?milestone_title=V1.1

Possible fixes

Echo the same behavior at the group/project level in that the URL filter is scoped to that namespace.

  • https://gitlab.com/dashboard/issues?milestone_title=1.1 (incorrect)
  • https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-bronze/-/issues?milestone_title=1.1 (correct)

Workaround

Use the group level milestones dashboard
