Change type on issues

Release notes

Changing the type of an issue is critical for when an issue was created with the wrong type. Or perhaps, you meant to create an issue but after some discussion, you've decided that the matter needs to be escalated. In that scenario, you can change it from an issue to an incident so that it can be escalated appropriately. Change the type of an issue by clicking on the edit button in the upper right hand corner of an issue. Select the new type from the type drop-down and click save.

Problem to solve

Users want the ability to change the type of issues after creation. Perhaps they accidentally created the issue unaware of available types or simply made a mistake. Some may also have created an issue and then realize it actually needs to be "promoted" to an incident.

Intended users

User experience goal

Allow people to change the issue type so that they can recover if they've created the wrong one.

Proposal

Help people change the issue type once the issue or incident is created

When someone clicks the edit button on issues - display the issue type field in addition to the title and description fields.
