valid characters for TFA string ?

We just started using the community version of gitlab, when I activated TFA the string contained 'o' !

I thought only ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ234567 are valid ?

For convenience all strings can be lower case but will be uppercase for the TFA resolution ?
