Milestone display for issues that are already closed in not yet merged commits

Problem to solve
While the burndown graph is awesome, it becomes less useful when issues are closed but the corresponding MRs are not merged yet. So if a mr includes multiple commits, over time many issues can collect that are already handled, just not merged but show the same way in a milestone as issues that haven't been worked on at all.

Proposal
Add a dotted line to the burndown graph to show the issues that are already closed in one of the branches/mrs but not merged yet.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
If one could distinguish between issues with merged closing commits, issues with unmerged closing commits and issues without closing commits in the milestone burndown graph view.
