Page Update: GitLab Releases to Include .com and self-managed Tags
Problem to solve
When viewing our GitLab releases page, as a external consumer I can't distinguish which features are available to me as a SaaS versus Self-Managed customer.
This this page is SUPER helpful in enabling an email that sales uses after each release each month as a touch point with customers and prospects. Essentially, we just want to make sure that our customers are aware of what is in the release without 1) inadvertently setting expectations for something they get excited about but won't end up having access to and 2) having to scroll through the blog to find every feature that isn't highlighted as on .com and then having to do a find and delete in the template (worried about the accuracy of manually doing this myself or asking the SALs to do it for their customers).
Intended users
- GitLab customers
- GitLab GTM and support team members providing information to GitLab customers
User experience goal
When reading GitLab releases information for a given release I should be able to quickly understand whether a posted feature is pertinent given that I am a SaaS or Self-Managed customer.
Proposal
This information is already available from the same release post item structure that generates the current content. We should add a badge
similar to the one for category
called Self Managed Only
which displays on any release highlight item with the gitlab_com
key set to false.
