Commits by author dropdown: username aren't matched like in the Commit History

If somebody commits with a username other than their Gitlab username (but same E-Mail), those commits won't be shown if you select that User from the "Search by author" Dropdown in the Commit History.

This is a different behavior from the normal "matching behavior" in the commit history. Here the commit author and the user are correctly matched (the correct link to the profile and the picture of the user are shown).

This difference in behaviour is confusing.

It is somehow linked to the more general problems of the dropdown in #214042 but i fell like this is an sepeat issue (but i don't know 🤷).
