Move Nested Epics down to Premium Tier
Problem to solve
As a Product Manager, I should easily be able to organise my work in order to efficiently and clearly communicate the structure and plan to the rest of my team.
Right now, nested epics are a top tier feature, yet epics are a premium/silver feature. My company is a Premium/Silver SaaS customer. As a PM, I constantly need to be able to properly organise my work, but as of right now I am struggling because I have to manually "nest" and link epics by linking them in the description and explaining the structure. GitLab's top tier's pull to upgrade is security-heavy, which makes total sense, but holding back this basic functionality from epic management is extremely frustrating.
As a small startup with 26 users, we're not at the stage yet where Ultimate/Gold is necessary and this single feature is not enough to justify the huge jump in $$$, leaving Premium/Silver PM's and project managers with a painful workaround just to do their day to day work. I'm managing to do the thing I need, just badly, which is not a fun user experience and encourages me to use a different tool to do this. JIRA provides all of this and more for $14 a user per month. I can do this in Notion easily as well.
Intended users
User experience goal
The user should be able to easily nest child epics into parent epics in order to organise and group work effectivel and with minimal friction.
Proposal
Please move nested epics into Premium/Silver. Consider that this change may actually encourage people to upgrade from Bronze/Starter rather than worrying that people won't upgrade to Ultimate/Gold. If people are going to upgrade to Ultimate/Gold, Security will be the selling point and nested epics is just a nice bonus. Not having this feature makes me want to use other products for project management.

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
- Increase in ARR for Premium/Silver.
- Increase in conversion from Bronze/Starter to Premium/Silver
- Increase in SMAU for Plan.
