Display how long an issue has been in a "workflow step/list" on issue board

Problem to solve

As a project/product/engineering manager,

I need to understand how long an issue has been in "state",

So I can quickly identify blocks, delays, bandwidth concerns, etc and help my team resolve any concerns

Intended users

  • Parker (Product Manager)
  • Delaney (Development Team Lead)
  • Sasha (Software Developer)

User experience goal

Simple, non-intrusive

Proposal

Counter that displays time in "state" in top right corner of issue card:

Screen_Shot_2020-07-10_at_12.23.15_PM

  • Should be an option in each list configuration (like WIP)
  • Counter should be in a consumable format and metric (hrs/days?)
  • MVC should be simple math based on the time between list transitions for that board (technically label changes)

Documentation

We would need to update issue board docs

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

  • track number of boards with a counter enabled
  • track number of lists with a counter enabled

What is the type of buyer?
