Mirror all of GitHub.com on GitLab.com

Problem to solve

  1. As a developer looking for open source projects, it's wasteful to have to look on GitHub.com and GitLab.com. As a user of GitLab, I'd like to be able do a single search and see all projects, across both properties.
  2. As GitLab, we want to let users stay on GitLab.com rather than having to leave to another site. It's an extension of our single-product for all DevOps philosophy.
  3. Allow using GitLab as your primary interface, while allowing the community to use GitHub.

Proposal

Mirror all GitHub projects on GitLab, including code repos and issues (but maybe not PR/MRs).

Bonus points for mirrors GitHub stars so popularity is an aggregated measure across both sites.
