On-call Schedule Management
Problem to solve
The Health group is currently working on building tools for responders to triage and respond to IT alerts and incidents. All response teams require a tool to manage on-call schedules for responders to ensure that there is always coverage for critical 24/7 services. Currently on-call schedule management, escalation policies, and paging is not in scope for this category. The purpose of this issue is to evaluate if this might be a viable opportunity for GitLab to consider building in the future. This issue will capture ideas, feedback, competitiv intel, and discussions on:
- On-call Schedules
- Escalation Policies
User experience goal
Managers can create and manage on-call schedules, rotations, and escalation policies in GitLab. Engineers can view and manage their on-call schedules in GitLab as well as create and manage personal paging policies and contact methods.
Build this in GitLab by reusing existing components (roadmap calendars, approval processes, email notifications, etc)
Integrate with an open source tool that handles it for us
This work supports the Incident management vision.
