Writing day at 2020 write-the-docs PDX
This is to discuss plans for the Writing Day at Write The Docs-Portland.
The Writing Day is typically on a Sunday (will be August 9th this year in Portland).
Last year, there were a number of issues with ~writingday::proposed
label and encouraged participants to work on other issues (e.g. with documentation plus ~"Accepting merge requests" labels). See last year's event page.
To encourage people to participate, we could also offer GitLab merchandise to wider community members who contribute MRs during the Writing Day.
Day-Of Plan
- Follow the Schedule/Participation spreadsheet.
- By 9 a.m., @mikelewis links to 'how to contribute' issue in the WTD Slack
#wtd-conferences
and/or#writing-day
and/or main HopIn - wherever people are. - Everyone who's available: Log in to HopIn by 9:30 a.m.
- @mikelewis does brief intro on GitLab.
- Join GitLab breakout room for your shift(s).
- Watch those Slack channels above and the main HopIn chat - announce yourself (and GitLab's room) in any of the above any time during the day if you think it would be helpful.
- For help from the TW team, use GitLab's #tw-team channel
Guidelines on how to help:
- Answer any questions about GitLab and how to use it.
- Describe how we work and offer links to more info in our docs or to third-party tools we use.
- Additional guidance (Go around the table to see what attendees are looking for, etc.)
