Allow maven packages authentication using simple http auth method

Problem to solve

To use maven packages, gitlab allow only authentication with http headers :

Unfortunately, if we want to proxy the repository with tools like nexus, this kind of tools only provides basic uathentication (username/password).

Proposal

Allow to access gitlab maven repository (https://XXX/api/v4/projects/PROJECT_ID/packages/maven) using :

  • username : gitlab user
  • password : personal access token
