Feature proposal: GitLab Bookmarks
Trying this again, it was originally proposed here: gitlab-foss#34390 (closed).
Problem to solve
It's hard to keep an eye on things in GitLab. We sometimes want to "save" an issue, an MR, an epic to go back later but it gets lost within all we have.
Adding as a to-do isn't the best way to do it bc, 1st, we get a lot of to-dos, 2nd, bc sometimes there's nothing to do "now". I just want to save a link to go back later. The same for assigning things to ourselves.
Proposal
With Bookmarks we could easily create a way to save links we want in a list that we can go back later.
It could be as simple as adding a button to the top navbar, either next to issues, MRs, and to-dos, or under "More":
And adding a button on issues, Epics, MRs:
Intended users
All GL users
Permissions and Security
It should be a user-based feature. Only the user could see their bookmarks.
Documentation
Add docs according to how the feature is built.
Availability & Testing
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
Implement the feature and measure how many users adopt it.
What is the type of buyer?
Is this a cross-stage feature?
This should be under devopsplan I think.
