Enable line brakes in math via `strict: false` in katex markdown math engine
When wrting math blocks, in order to write multiple equations in multiple lines, I have to use multiple of these:
```math
\lambda A = \lambda v
```
```math
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
```
Which renders:
\lambda A = \lambda v
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
It would have been nice if could just write:
```math
\lambda A = \lambda v \\
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
```
Which currently renders:
\lambda A = \lambda v \\
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
But according to Katex's docs (see https://katex.org/docs/supported.html#line-breaks), it's probably due to katex's engine being used with strict: true
.
Intended users
Anyone who uses Gitlab's markdown editor for math as well.
Further details
It'd be easier to type long math equations this way.
Proposal
I'm not sure where to find the location where katex is being used, but it sounds to me like a simple JSON key to set to true
.
Permissions and Security
Irrelevant.
Documentation
Availability & Testing
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
If this:
```math
\lambda A = \lambda v \\
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
```
Renders as:
\lambda A = \lambda v
(A -\lambda I)v = 0
What is the type of buyer?
Everyone.
Is this a cross-stage feature?
I don't think so..
