Introduce active/focus state sidebar and dropdown list items for more tactile response

Problem

Our top navigation bar has excellent hover/active/focus states making it feel quite tactile and responsive. The sidebar and related to that dropdown list items do not have this active/focus state (they do have the hover though). This makes them feel less tactile and responsive.
